An Amazing Fact: After Titanic struck an icebergഀ
in 1912, the captain gave the order that women andഀ
children were to be given priority to evacuate on theഀ
few lifeboats. As a result, about 70 percent of theഀ
women and children aboard survived—compared toഀ
only 20 percent of the men. Rumors do persist that atഀ
least one young man who boarded a lifeboat dressedഀ
as a woman in order to survive.ഀ
Dear friend,ഀ
ഀ
Do you ever long for the days when men were expected, and openlyഀ
encouraged, to be strong, self-sacrificing, and brave?ഀ
ഀ
I suspect that if the Titanic were sinking today, it would be politically incorrect forഀ
a man to say “women first.” And if you should dare question a man for dressing likeഀ
a woman to get in a lifeboat, you would be scolded as insensitive and told gender-ഀ
specific clothing does not matter. Of course, we know that God’s Word clearly saysഀ
otherwise …ഀ
ഀ
“A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a manഀ
put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to theഀ
        Lord your God” (Deuteronomy 22:5).ഀ
As Christians, you and I realize that God deliberately designed men and womenഀ
with separate—but equally important—roles to fulfill. Yet popular culture, with itsഀ
intolerance of both biblical truth and common sense, has aggressively promoted theഀ
blurring of our gender distinctions. And the deluge of media programs on these topicsഀ
has led to a tidal wave of gender confusion in young and old alike.ഀ
Portrayals vs. Truthഀ
Ever since the 1970s, countless movies and television programs have sought toഀ
normalize homosexual behavior. Early portrayals of gay and lesbian characters wereഀ
often less than flattering, but militant advocacy groups have lobbied through theഀ
decades since so that now these characters are now almost always portrayed in theഀ
most positive light.ഀ
