On one of these typical Sunday mornings, with a gnawing feeling that
his spiritual life was unfulfilling, John decided to watch TV while his family
prepared for church. As he flipped through the station guide looking for
something interesting, his eyes caught the words “Amazing Facts.”
Believing it was something akin to Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, he turned to the
program, but instead of seeing stories of oddities, John began listening to a man
named “Pastor Doug” teach about the Bible.
While the program wasn’t full of bizarre stories, it definitely caught his
attention. It “just so happened” that I was talking about the seventh-day Sabbath
that morning.
John quickly called Chrisy to come
listen to the program. They had never
heard anything like it before. They
were speechless, in fact, fascinated by
the Scriptures I was quoting—all while
the Holy Spirit was piecing together the
Sabbath truth in their hearts and healing
their heavy-laden souls with the Lord’s
true rest.
Do you remember Acts 2:37? It says,
“Now when they heard this, they were pricked
in their heart, and said unto Peter and to
the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren,
what shall we do?” From then on the response of the whole family was to watch
Amazing Facts every time it came on. “We couldn’t get enough!” John says.
A Tornado of Transformation
These programs prompted the entire family to begin searching their Bibles
carefully. They became convicted about keeping the Sabbath and requested the
Amazing Facts Study Guides. Even the children enthusiastically went through
all the lessons!
Chrisy, a Sunday school teacher, began to introduce the new truths she was
learning. Many parents listening in appreciated these amazing insights, but
the church leadership resisted. As they continued studying, John and Chrisy
recognized other unbiblical teachings in their church, and both knew it was time
to find a congregation that wholeheartedly followed Scripture.
Not long after, our staff here at Amazing Facts was able to help the thrilled
couple find a local, Bible-based, Sabbath church, where they were warmly
welcomed. “We heard the truth preached, and it wasn’t watered down.” The
family continued watching the Amazing Facts Presents television program, which
guided them to a treasure trove of other ministry resources that helped them
better know Jesus and His will for their lives.
